We are pleased that you have stopped by to view the next CopBlue video article. These are published regularly and address a variety of issues which are important to American Street Cops.

It’s a big word with a myriad of meanings. It can mean a heavy coat on a cold winter’s day. It might mean having health insurance if you get sick. If you are important, it could mean armed guards at your side. If you’re going out with a new squeeze who is hotter than hot, it could mean having a couple of condoms in your pocket.

Then there is parental protection, of course. Do you remember when you were a youngster, your Mom’s gentle reminders about not running with scissors in your hands? Depending on the situation, that gentle reminder could be delivered with a screaming inflexion which could have been heard by the neighbors, four doors away.

Chief Danny has a message this week that’s different from those in the past. It’s about self-protection. It’s a new year and there’s a new administration in Washington that still hasn’t figured out where the bathrooms are.

Contrary to what they said during the campaign, now that Biden is sitting in the Big Seat, he has discovered that he doesn’t have all the answers. Worse, he’s learning that his predecessor pretty-much had the issue covered. No, COVID won’t be gone in two weeks. We had already presumed as much. But, I must admit:  it sounded good at the time.

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all remedy that will work on everyone from Fond du Lac, up north to Bemidji and down south to Cedar Key that he was carrying around in his pocket until he took office.

The reality is that each of us bears primary responsibility for protecting ourselves. Yes, we cops will get there as fast as we can, but it can take a few minutes from the time you call until we arrive. A whole helluva lot can happen while you wait. It’s time you may not have.

We have heard the endless preaching about masks. It went from don’t wear them, to you should wear them and now some demand that you wear them.

At the time each demand was uttered, we were assured that it was the final and full statement on the matter. Until it was reversed.

Of course, with all the demands for mask-wearing, no one has bothered to mention this little tidbit:

My attorney advised me that, here in Florida, wearing a mask in public while carrying a concealed weapon is a felony. Many states have such a law.

Yes, I said felony. The end of you voting and of ever possessing a gun, again in the future. Maybe a fine and/or jail.

And now, both New York and California have declared that dining indoor at a restaurant is just fine. Even though last week, doing such a horrible thing might have landed you in jail.

Just how stupid and gullible do these politicians think we are?

And today, our new President came clean. Remember how during the campaign – for months on end – Mr. Biden assured us that upon his arrival in the White House, the days of COVID would be numbered? Remember that?

Today our Wizard-in-Chief announced that he cannot change the trajectory of the COVID virus. It will do exactly what it was destined to do from the start.

Imagine that.

So, to my brothers and sisters, I urge you to make your own plan. Be your own first-line of defense and watch Chief Danny’s video with some tips and techniques that may just be of help.

God be with you all.

“Above all, it’s about going home at the end of the shift … “

We couldn’t agree more.
